Summary of point scoring details

If any of the above info is found to be inaccurate please contact Jenny Cooper (07906 831909)

To run in the Grand Prix races you must be a member of a club that is affiliated to the Yorkshire Veterans Athletic Association, or affiliated as an individual yourself.  If you are under 35 years of age, you will be considered a non-scoring Guest.  Runners of clubs not affiliated to the YVAA, but whose members are registered with England Athletics can also run as Guests.

The easiest way to enter a GP race is to register online prior to your first race and pick your number up at registration.  A link will appear on the website approximately 2 weeks before each Grand Prix race, but again, you need only register once for the year.

What to do on the day

Your first GP race of the 2012 season

If you have registered online, your number will be ready for you to pick up at registration.

Otherwise give your name, club and date of birth to registration.

Further races you do in the series

Simply bring your number and check in at registration.

Each race entry fee: £3,50 (+£1 if you need a replacement number) - note the rise of 50p this year; this addition to the fee will go to the organizing club towards the costs incurred by the club in hosting the race.

GRAND PRIX NUMBERS – DESTROY YOUR 2011 NUMBERS NOW!!  You are issued with a new number for the 2012 series when you attend your first race.  This number should be kept for all subsequent 2012 races in the YVAA Grand Prix only (don’t use it for championship races).

Summary of the scoring details, etc.        Back to Top

Points are awarded in each Grand Prix race as follows.

The first man, regardless of age category is awarded 200 points, the second man 199 points and so on.

The first lady, regardless of age category is awarded 100 points, the second lady 99 points and so on.

No points are awarded for guests.

Age at AGM date determines age category for the season in grand prix awards.  If you change age category during the season you are eligible for the new category in the individual grand prix races.  This paragraph does not apply to championship races.

Team Awards

All individual grand prix races are scoring races for the team awards.

The annual team awards are:

·         Men, first 4 to count.  (Aggregate points for the first 4 male finishers from a club)

·         Men, rest to count.  (Aggregate points for all male finishers from a club outside the top 4)

·         Men, all to count.  (Aggregate points for all male finishers)

·         Ladies, first 4 to count.  (Aggregate points for the first 4 female finishers from a club)

·         Ladies, rest to count.  (Aggregate points for all female finishers from a club outside the top 4)

·         Ladies, all to count.  (Aggregate points for all female finishers)

NOTE:  For annual team awards, no competitor can contribute to the winning of more than one prize, e.g. a club winning the Four-to-Count trophy cannot win the All-to-Count trophy, yet can win the Rest-to-Count.

Individual Awards

·         Category prizes are given at each of the races.

·         At the end of the series trophies are awarded in each category based on the runners’ best 7 scores from the 10 races (or best 6 scores if only 7, 8 or 9 races are scheduled).  A minimum six races have to be completed to qualify for an award (five in a 7, 8 or 9-race series).

Prior to the races, keep in touch with your club rep, who will have greater details on each race, including directions.

If details of any race have to be changed, your club rep will be informed.
