Yorkshire Vets AA Grand Prix 2006

Race 9, Starbeck, Aug 24.

Due to a serious road accident in Pool-in-Wharfedale on the evening of the race, many of our members passing through that area were very much delayed for the race, including the main man with the numbers and registration tick-off sheet!  Despite this the entry desk staff did a great job, and so did Jean Shotter in helping me with the computer results input, allowing me to run the race, thanks.

Note:  Many of you have no excuse for not running the Nidd Valley Guy Fawkes 10, because you were actually wearing the entry form on your vest, as a makeshift number bib!  FOR NEW RUNNERS joining the Grand Prix on the above race – your race number will apply for the next and final race of this year’s Grand Prix at Halifax in November.  However, if you attend that race please pick up a proper number bib, which hopefully will this time be waiting for you.

Race results now amended

Unfortunately, the results from Starbeck did not escape errors for the following reasons.  There was one case of duplicate numbers (312) written on the finishing sheet and registered runner number 403 was the only one not recorded so positions 53 and 55 in the men’s race may be the wrong way round.  There was one case of an athlete running in his first GP race this year (Michael Hetherton of York Acorn), who must have run with a number 290 from somewhere else (which clashed with Theresa Grennan, who was number 290).  I didn’t have a name for number 313 only a date of birth but thanks to Tony Walmsley for e-mailing to clear that up.

If anybody has noticed anything else please inform me on yvaa@lycos.co.uk .  Normal service will be resumed at the next Grand Prix Race.
