Venue: Eccup 10
Race Date: June 26th, 2022
Our 10 Mile Championship returned to the Eccup 10 this year. We had a pretty course on rural roads and the footpath around Eccup reservoir, and beautiful weather to enjoy it. I hadn’t run this before, and I think the course was unchanged, but I heard several people remarking that it seemed hillier this year.
There were plenty of impressive performances, including from Julie Briscoe (1st F45 in 1:03:56), Graham Rush (1st M35 in 52:23), and Stuart Dunbar (1st M60 in 1:03:36). 1st F60 Treena Johnson’s 1:06:34 was in a different league however, with an age-grade in the mid 90s despite the undulating route.
We often see local clubs doing well at our races, and this was no exception, with Valley Striders the top-performing club. Congratulations to all our category winners. If you missed collecting your trophy, please get in touch, and we’ll do our best to get it to you at a future event.

With all the mix up at the Bronte 5 with not ticking boxes are we all entered for the Yorkshire Veterans for this Sundays 10mile Championships as when I entered their was no specific box to tick this time either .

That’s correct: there’s no checkbox to declare eligibility. My understanding is we don’t think that’s a reliable enough method of identifying eligible athletes, so we won’t use it in future. Instead, we’ll filter a full start or finish list by club. That won’t be infallible, but should be better.
(I know you were arguably the person worst affected at the 5 Mile Champs. Apologies again, and thanks for understanding. We are trying to learn from the problems.)
